Biodiversity survey online form help
How do I record my location?
First select a method of locating your site from the options available, for example, by postcode or by nearest town.
You will then be asked to refine your location on a map. This map will open in a new window on your screen with a marker showing your approximate location. Click on the marker and drag it to your exact survey location.
Use the zoom function on the left-hand side to help you position your marker as accurately as possible. Switch to satellite view when you are close in, so you can see the precise tree or house you were near.
Once you have positioned your marker correctly, make sure you select 'Save location'. This option appears in a text bubble every time you drag the marker to a new position. It is important to select this and not just close the map.
A close-up image of your location will be displayed on the form if you have saved the location correctly.
I can't progress from the first page
The most likely reason is that your location hasn't been saved correctly.
Please refer to the question, 'How do i record my location?'
Where can I upload my hedge photo?
At the bottom of the form's first page you will see a question that asks, 'Did you take a photo of your hedge?' Select 'Yes' to this and then select 'Browse' to find the photo on your computer. Finally select 'Upload image' and you will see your photo appear on the form.
I have submitted a survey anonymously. How can I link it to my profile?
Let us know your username and unique survey sample ID using our
contact form
and we will link the survey to your account.
To find your survey sample ID, find and click on your marker on the results map. An information box will appear that shows your unique ID number.
Can I save my form and continue entering my results later?
Yes. As you move from page to page your results are automatically saved locally on your computer. However, your results will be erased if you log in or log out. You must also use the same computer to continue entering your results.
Can I edit my survey results after I have submitted them?
Only we can edit your survey results once they have been submitted. If you have made a mistake or need anything changed, then please email us your corrections along with your survey sample ID using our
contact form
.
To find your survey sample ID, find and click on your marker on the results map. An information box will appear that shows your unique ID number.
Is there another way I can provide you with my results?
Yes. If you are having problems entering your data online, we can also accept results by post.
Send your completed workbook to: FREEPOST RSCH-CHYJ-HYYC, OPAL, Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College, South Kensington, London SW7 2AZ.
Please include an accurate description or print-out of your survey location so we can pinpoint it on the map.
