Pond dipping at Far Ings Nature Reserve

23 July 2010, Far Ings Nature Reserve, near Barton-upon-Humber

Invertebrate expert Roger Key joined us at this event to teach us all about the different groups of freshwater creatures we would find while pond dipping.

On a glorious day we ended up finding dragonfly larvae, mayfly larvae, alderfly larvae, beetles, water boatmen, a water scorpion, and best of all, a daphnia (water flea) giving birth under the microscope!
