OPAL Grants Scheme 2009-12

The OPAL Grants Scheme was a simple and accessible funding programme open to natural history societies, recording schemes and similar groups. The scheme is no longer inviting applications.

More than £220,000 was distributed to groups across four themed funding rounds which took place between 2009 and 2012:

  • 2009: Making it Easier
Helping groups to continue existing projects, expand their activities and try new things.
  • 2010: Extending Your Reach
Funding public-facing projects that increased public awareness of the natural history group.
  • 2011: Sharing Your Skills
Supporting projects that focused on the transfer of knowledge and skills.
  • 2012: Looking for the Future
Funding projects to support groups' continued operation in the future, as well as expansion of their work.
