OPAL is now taking applications for its 2010 Grant Scheme. We are offering grants of up to £4,000 to help natural history societies and recording schemes grow and flourish.
Now in its second year, the OPAL Grants Scheme is open to all national and local natural history societies, recording schemes and similar groups that have a biological focus and are active in England.
Last year, our grants helped 28 societies and groups pay for new and exciting projects that included new websites, equipment and organised events.
This year, the focus of the OPAL Grants Scheme is on boosting membership and raising awareness of natural history societies across the country. By encouraging people to join nature groups, we hope to inspire the next generation of wildlife enthusiasts, which is one of OPAL's key objectives.
Applying for a grant is quick and simple. See the OPAL Grants Scheme page for more information and an application form.
You can also promote your society by attending OPAL events. We’ll even reimburse all your travel and subsistence costs.
If you are interested in joining a nature or wildlife group, you can use the Nature Societies Online service to find one.
