Amgueddfa Cymru (National Museum Wales) is one of three partners in Wales that joined the OPAL partnership in 2014 as we expanded across the UK.
About the museum
Amgueddfa Cymru is an educational institution comprising seven national museums across Wales which have free entry thanks to Welsh Government funding. Its Natural Sciences department employs 28 natural history specialists, covering the fields of botany, invertebrate biodiversity, entomology, palaeontology, mineralogy and petrology.
Staff undertake primary research as well as educating the public through gallery exhibitions, field demonstrations, public talks and in-house events and behind-the-scenes tours.
Amgeuddfa Cymru and OPAL
Amgeuddfa Cymru’s OPAL Community Scientist, Kiani Perera, will be working with schools, community groups and universities throughout South Wales to help them investigate the environment where they live.
Kiani can help you find out about your area and identify the plant and animal species found. She would particularly like to hearfrom groups who have never done anything like this before. Kiani is also running a course to for those who would like to teach others how to lead groups and conduct outdoor learning.
