Take OPAL surveys into the classroom with new guides

Teachers in Scotland can more easily integrate OPAL surveys into science teaching with the help of new lesson plans and curriculum guides.

The resources, produced by OPAL staff based at Glasgow Science Centre and FSC Scotland, show how survey activities can fit into the country's primary and secondary curriculums.

Schoolchildren testing water pHLesson plans guide teachers step-by-step through a range of classroom-based and outdoor activities linked to our surveys, covering topics such as tree health and soil quality.

They are designed to fit the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, from early years education to students sitting Nationals, but can also be adapted for use in schools around the UK.

Alongside these new resources, teachers in England and Scotland can also download existing curriculum guides focusing on the Tree Health and Bugs Count Surveys.
