A free identification guide to some of the smaller moths found in the British Isles has been published.
From Adelidae to Ypsolophidae, nearly 50 micro-moth families are included in the guide, produced by the Garden Moth Scheme (GMS) and OPAL West Midlands.
GMS Moth Tips 3 is the latest in a series of illustrated keys to some of the more common species found in Britain and Ireland.
There are currently more than 1,600 micro-moth species in the country, compared to about 800 types of macro-moth and 60 species of butterfly.
As well as full colour images of the micro-moths, the guide also features identification tips and information on similar species.
