Buglife launching Oil Beetle Hunt in spring

This spring, Buglife will be asking the public to join in a nationwide hunt for oil beetles.

Oil beetles get their name because they release oily droplets when disturbed. They have been in decline in recent years and are now mostly restricted to South West England.

Buglife need your help to learn more about these beetles and their distribution.

You can register your interest now on the Buglife website. You will receive a free oil beetle identification to help you carry out the survey.

Identify water invertebrates in the OPAL water survey

Buglife helped develop the water invertebrate guide for the OPAL water survey. By looking for these invertebrates in your local pond you can help scientists with important research.
