Bugs Count passes the million mark

More than a million bugs have now been counted since the launch of our Bugs Count survey.

We asked you to find out which invertebrates are living near you by taking part in our timed challenges and keeping a special eye out for the six Species Quest bugs.

A bug on a plantYou responded in droves, submitting thousands of surveys and counting an enormous number of bugs, from the common ant to the Devil’s Coach Horse.

Your findings are helping scientists learn more about the distribution of invertebrates across the country and how the urban environment may be affecting them.

We will be publishing some of the results of the survey so far on our website later this month.

But you can still take part in the survey and add to our scientists’ understanding of what is happening to a range of invertebrates.
