Plymouth Wildlife and Nature Photography Competition 2012 winners

We had a fantastic response to the Plymouth Wildlife and Nature Photography Competition 2012, and received some incredible images.

You can see all the winning and highly commended photos in the gallery below. Every winner received a high quality canvas print of their photograph, which was also be displayed at an exhibition at Plymouth University.

There were four competition categories (see below) and three age groups: under 14s, 14-18, and over 18s. We were delighted to receive so many photos from younger photographers – perhaps a career in wildlife photography awaits them.

Competition categories:

Macro
Close-up images - perhaps revealing things you might not notice with the naked eye.

Urban wildlife
Photos may depict wildlife in unlikely locations, or demonstrate how wildlife is adapting to urban environments.

 Landscape
Photos that capture the nature or wildlife of Plymouth from a distance.
 Mobile phone
Photos taken on a mobile phone. Images in this category are judged on what the picture shows rather than the picture quality.
